Sustainable Future through Innovative Technology Solutions

Sustainable Technology Steward

As a leader heading technology for products and security for a leading telco, I never thought the topic of sustainability would become a core aspect of my interest. Still, the reality is it's no longer just an option - it's a necessity for the future of our business and the world. I wouldn’t be surprised if this shortly becomes a targeted KPI for business leaders with digital sustainability being a top job and also a board room conversation.

It's become a buzzword for some and a byword for others. It just depends on where you stand on the topic. Sustainability is no longer optional. It's a pressing issue for businesses of all sizes and industries, especially in APAC. Climate change, the depletion of resources, and social inequality are just a few challenges to be addressed so we can ensure a thriving future for our planet and its inhabitants.

The truth is traditional business models aren't enough. We can no longer afford to prioritize short-term profits over long-term sustainability. We need to act now to curb our environmental impact and promote social responsibility. Not doing so threatens the survival of our planet and also puts our businesses at risk.

But we are not without hope.

By bringing sustainability into our business strategies, we can not only do our part to protect the environment but also reap the benefits of increased efficiency, cost savings, and a positive brand reputation.

Here are a few examples of how businesses can become more sustainable:

• Invest in renewable energy sources to reduce their carbon footprint

• Implement recycling and waste reduction programs

• Implement sustainable sourcing and procurement practices

• Incorporate sustainable practices in their operations and supply chain

• Incorporate social and environmental considerations in decision making

Working as a CIO, I know that technology plays a vital role in achieving sustainability. From digital tools that enable more efficient operations to data analytics that can help us measure and improve our impact, technology is a powerful ally in our quest for a sustainable future.

By bringing sustainability into our business strategies, we can not only do our part to protect the environment but also reap the benefits of increased efficiency, cost savings, and a positive brand reputation.

Furthermore, I believe that sustainability is not just a responsibility but also a great opportunity for businesses to innovate and create new products, services and business models.

I predict that, in the future, sustainability will become an even more important consideration for businesses. Consumers and investors are increasingly demanding that companies take action to protect the environment and promote social responsibility. As a result, companies that prioritize sustainability will be better positioned to succeed in the long term.

In conclusion, as a technology leader, I am committed to doing my part to promote sustainability within my organization. I believe that by incorporating sustainability into our business strategies, we can not only protect the planet but also create a brighter future for our businesses and our world.
